Rating: 5 Stars

Overall Description: Percy Jackson has returned home for the start of a new school year. 7th grade comes without any surprises- and Percy figures he can easily finish the year without something bad happening. Then, on the last day of school, the school bully challenges Percy to a volleyball game in P.E. As it turned out, though, the bully wasn’t the problem. After a disastrous game involving fire-ball throwing monsters, and after Annabeth saves the game, Percy begins to learn more about his good friend Tyson. Tyson is actually a one-eyed cyclops and about 6 feet tall. Percy had never discovered Tyson’s hidden features because of the Mist, which changed images to what humans could understand. Immediately, Percy, Tyson, and Annabeth are transported back to camp, where they are constantly attacked by monsters. Thalia’s tree, created by Zeus, was dying, and so was the force that kept monsters away from camp. The only thing that could save the camp was a golden fleece, hidden in an evil cyclop’s cave far away. To make matters worse, Percy receives empathy link messages from Grover that warns that the satyr was in trouble. Percy announces that they must go on a quest, but the new Activities Director decides that Clarisse will go instead. Percy knows that they will need his help. Will he be able to escape from camp, journey into the Sea of Monsters, and retrieve the Golden Fleece in time, before the camp is invaded?

Recommendation: Absolutely!
